Serving Pacific's student-athletes

University of the Pacific is building a new sports medicine training and rehabilitation center that will focus on student-athlete health and wellness. Slated to open during the 2026-27 academic year, the new 15,682-foot center will dramatically improve the experience of Pacific's nearly 400 Division I student-athletes

The Student Athlete and Sports Medicine Center will also serve students in Pacific's Master of Science in Athletic Training program, who will gain essential real-life clinical experiences there under the supervision of licensed professionals. Pacific’s athletic training program is the only one accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education in Northern California.

Plans for the building, which will rise on the site of the South Campus Gym adjacent to the Alex G. Spanos Center, were guided by input from student-athletes, Tiger coaches, staff and supporters.

Health and Wellness Spaces

Health and wellness spaces will serve the physical and mental needs of student-athletes on campus. These spaces will include three state-of-the-art aquatic therapy pools, dedicated medical exam space and dedicated mental health space. Functional training space next to the sports medicine center providing ample space for rehabilitation.

The new athlete treatment room will be nearly three times the size of the current space. The wet rehab therapy facilities, including a therapy pool, hot tub and cold tub, will help increase students' ability to bounce back from injuries more safely and soon, by offering advanced temperature and rehabilitation therapies.

Flexible Spaces

A lobby and lounge, called the Tiger’s Den, will serve everyone, from students and coaches during the week to fans and patrons on game day. This space will be the gateway to health and wellness services for Pacific's student-athletes, and will provide them with a place to gather, socialize and study.

A multi-purpose room will provide space for indoor functional training, events and team gatherings.
