At Pacific Since: 2021
Nareeta A. Sharma ’18, ’21, PharmD, MS earned her doctor of pharmacy from University of the Pacific. She earned a master of science in health care outcomes and clinical services and completed a pharmacy practice fellowship at University of the Pacific.
Dr. Sharma is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the Rho Chi Honor Society, the California Pharmacists Association and the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Being able to directly impact the care of individuals led her to pursue a career in pharmacy. She was drawn to academia because of the opportunity to build students’ confidence and capacity to positively impact health care outcomes, especially among underserved populations. For Dr. Sharma, being able to teach at the same university where she pursued her education has been a full circle moment. Her faculty mentors were instrumental in her development as a pharmacist. In turn, she hopes to empower students to navigate their pharmacy careers with a sense of compassion, curiosity and innovation so they are positioned to provide high quality, patient-centered care.
She enjoys reading and challenges herself to read 20 books each year. She loves baking, and her specialty is chocolate chip cookies. She enjoys hiking and her favorite trails are Diamond Head in Oahu and Point Lobos in Monterey. An avid San Francisco 49ers fan, she treasures making memories with her family at Levi’s Stadium.

Teaching Philosophy
“My teaching philosophy is centered around fostering an inclusive learning environment where I implement a skills-based teaching and learning approach. This approach can be applied to a variety of experiential and practice settings, while encouraging enthusiasm for learning. I implement active learning techniques into my teaching, where students complete in-class activities that encourage them to apply what they have learned. They are then given opportunities to further develop and apply those skills within practice-based settings in the community. I also implement peer-to-peer learning, where students are given opportunities to teach their peers. I have found this allows students to work through concepts taught in class or practice settings. This creates a collaborative environment that fosters social connections among peers.”
