Pacificans cheer on 49ers at Touchdowns and Tigers
University of the Pacific brought the excitement of NFL football to campus during Homecoming and Family Weekend with a 49ers vs. Seahawks viewing party, featuring special guests and interactive activities as part of the university’s official partnership with the team.
The festivities included a student flag football game, sports analytics demonstrations by Pacific students, co-branded giveaways and appearances by the 49ers Spirit Squad and team mascots. University President Christopher Callahan and Pro Football Hall of Famer Bryant Young, who attended the 49ers' summer training camps at Pacific, also addressed the crowd.
“I love it when two great institutions come together because they have something to share, Young said. “They have shared values and there’s a unique collaboration that happens.”
The 49ers’ victory over the Seahawks wasn’t the only win that day. The celebration also highlighted the partnership's impact on Pacific students.
“We have students who are doing internships, career development and networking opportunities here on campus and Levi’s Stadium,” Callahan said. “We had very high expectations for this partnership and it has exceeded them on all levels.”
The partnership’s impact was highlighted at halftime when Eberhardt School of Business Dean Lewis Gale spoke with students Juliana Alexander ’24, ’27 and Miles Ryan ’26 about their internship experiences with the 49ers.
Looking ahead, the partnership continues with Students at the Stadium Nov. 10, additional viewing parties and guest lectures, including a lecture with Jordan Mazur, director of nutrition for the San Francisco 49ers, and an upcoming tour of Levi’s Stadium for students in Pacific’s Master of Emergency Management Science program.
Recruitment for the next year’s internship positions with the 49ers is also expected to open later in the fall.
