University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law celebrated the Class of 2025 with its 101st Annual Commencement Ceremony Saturday at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium.

“McGeorge School of Law graduates: You are finishing up your time at the law school not only with knowledge and skills but with a deep sense of purpose and a mindset to change the world,” Schwartz said. “You are prepared to lead with integrity, to uplift your communities and to make meaningful change in the world. I have no doubt you will go on to do great good, wherever your paths take you."

More than 200 degrees were awarded this year to graduates, including the Juris DoctorDoctor of Juridical ScienceMaster of LawsMaster of Science in LawMaster of Public Administration and Master of Public Policy.

University of the Pacific honored two distinguished faculty members for their exceptional contributions. Professor John Sprankling received the university’s highest honor, the Order of Pacific, which recognizes lasting contributions by faculty, staff and regents. Additionally, Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Professor of Law Larry Levine was named the 2025 recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Award for his outstanding achievements in teaching, research and service.

Alumnus Darrin Lim ’04 shared a heartfelt message with the graduates about his love of the law. Lim is the co-founder and partner of Politicom Law LLP and a founding member of the law school’s Diversity Alumni Board.

“So today, I challenge you to find your love story. Find the type of law that ignites a spark. The type of law that makes you want to work for it. The type of law that feels completely challenging yet completely free. Believe in yourself. Because today, I’m seeing the most beautiful versions of you,” Lim said.

Student speakers Mahima Karia ’25 and Diego Ahumada Marmolejo ’25, nominated by their peers and selected through a committee vote, delivered remarks to the enthusiastic crowd.

“The world needs the kind of lawyers we have become—lawyers who are smart, passionate, ethical and human. No matter where you go after today, know this: you carry with you not just a degree, but a legacy of perseverance, compassion and strength. And you’ll always carry a little bit of this class—this community—with you,” Karia said.

Ahumada Marmolejo, earning his degree from the Master of Laws program, encouraged his fellow graduates to honor the community that helped shape them.

“Never forget about your village. Your parents who were with you from the first moment you opened your eyes to the world, your childhood friends, good teachers who inspired you and gave you a piece of advice when you most needed it, coaches who taught you discipline and hard work. You are a result of the collective effort of the people who have loved you the most," Ahumada Marmolejo said.

Earlier this month, Pacific held its all-university commencement on the Stockton Campus, followed by diploma and hooding ceremonies for seven of the nine schools and colleges. The Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry will hold its graduation ceremony June 15 at The Masonic in San Francisco.
